Passing Down the Farm in The 21st. Century
In 2007 I reviewed the case notes of farm family clients who were the most successful at making their transition from one generation to the next, looking for common threads.
What I found was that those situations that had worked out for the best each contained three elements.
They were from across North America, did not know each other, were operators of very different types and sizes of farms, and were spread out over a twenty year period.
In each case there was a willingness to talk to one another about what was important to them, each family member was committed to cooperating (negotiating) with one another, and they had excellent advisors who were willing to think outside the box.
To help you achieve that same level of long term success I created a step by step process to help you to move seamlessly from your first serious meeting as a family to your final appointment with your professional advisors and beyond.
Time tested how-to, what-to principles that will help you answer the important questions for yourself and make decisions about your farm’s future before putting your advisors on the payroll.
Step-by-step strategies you’ll need for creating your management succession, ownership transition, and long term business strategic plan – is yours immediately upon joining.
You and your family will immediately learn how to focus on what’s important so you can determine what you should do first, often saving hundreds if not thousands of dollars. You’ll see how to appoint the right person to manage the day to day collection of important facts and feelings, a great time-saver.
And you’ll have a systematic process for organizing everyone’s contribution, saving your advisors time and saving you money in the process.
Below are the links to each “session” in order, actually 10 Action Steps For Succession Success.
I wish you all the best.
