Lely Astronaut A3 Milking Robot

The Astronaut A3 Robotic Milking System
When launching the Astronaut robotic milking system, Lely introduced an entirely new concept in terms of milking equipment.

Robotic milking is not just another way of milking cows, but rather another way of farm management.

Advanced sensor techniques and an integrated farm management programme, combined with human management, provide state-of-the-art tools for highly efficient milk quality control. In addition, Lely has been increasingly focussing on making not only an advanced robot, but also one that is environmental friendly.

As a result of substantial energy savings, the Astronaut is the robot with the lowest operational costs in today’s market place.

    you would think …
    you would think that a heffa would kick the crab out of the thing and would try and get out, it would turn around and all would break lose, there should be a robot whacking pipe aswell

    wow, makes me want to have dairy cows again.

  4. Feterlj says:

    SO what if the cow …
    SO what if the cow has Mastitis, for example? In the database retrieval portion does this CPU recognize that the cow has a problem, diverting the milk to a different chamber?

  5. Tasmanzl says:

    Conductivity …
    Conductivity measurement is standard, somatic cell count a common option. This will generate an entry in the attention list if higher than the selected treshold and even separated/drafted automaticaly for treatment if required. All registrations are a quarter level so picked up a lot earlier than on cow level.

  6. HandiAce says:

    Do cows enjoy …
    Do cows enjoy getting milked?

  7. Tasmanzl says:

    no need, this is …
    no need, this is free voluntary cow traffic remember! No motorbikes, automatic drafting gates, teasers, stingers, whips or whacking pipes required. If the heifer does not want to go she does not go! See the Lely A3 Southland NZ video how leisurly milking can be…..

  8. Tasmanzl says:

    If mastitis is …
    If mastitis is detected in the milk it will be collected separated from the main vat automatically. Also milk that is off color by eg blood or blue milk, colostrum can be separated automatically.

  9. Tasmanzl says:

    Cows milk …
    Cows milk themselves 2-5 times a day voluntarily, so you would like to think they enloy it.
    See the Lely A3 Southland NZ video how leisurly milking can be…..

  10. Feterlj says:

    so it measures …
    so it measures conductivity, photo optic detection, cell counting…man i repair medical equipment for a living and it yet amazes me how other equipment is so similar…even dairy equipment.

  11. Tasmanzl says:

    Cow’s teats are …
    Cow’s teats are more effectively cleand with brushes than with a water jet. Have you ever tried to clean your teeth without a brush?
    The success of Lely A3 is based on purpose designed world class advanced techology suitable for 24/7 operation and the most sold
    in the world with a proven track record for quality, capacity and individual cow friendliness. The Astronaut allows free cow traffic and the possibility for 100% grazing (proven in NZ).

    thats an early A3 that is

  16. locario35 says:

    Hey, why don’t you …
    Hey, why don’t you talk about the own milking robot system unable to attach and milk a cow manually in case of problem??? Do you still have very clean udder like that all the year??? Why don’t you talk about the very long lenght of milkhoses that is not suitable for a smoothly and complete milking??? Why don’t you talk about unbalanced udders that the robot is unable to attach???
    That is a very good sale and commercial video for sure, nothing more… That is not the reality for SURE…

  17. Tasmanzl says:

    @locario35 manual …
    @locario35 manual attachement is not required with a professional back up service. All sold robots have a certified service technician within 1.5 hours max.
    The teats are cleaned and stimulated at the same time. The brushes are used 24/7 and desinfected after each cow. The pulsator is in the robot arm so a lot closer than any conventional milking system so long milk hoses is no issue. The Pulsation is even adapted to the milk speed and the individual cow. Very Cow friendly.

  18. Tasmanzl says:

    @locario35 …
    @locario35 Unbalanced udders is no problem at all and all quarters are milked individually and the cups taken off per quater, so always a complete milking and no blind milking = cow friendly and less mastitis because of this. Normally only 1-2% of cows are removed from the herd because they cause too much delay for other cows, because of behaviour or teat position issues.

  19. Tasmanzl says:

    @xxtoolxx66 just …
    @xxtoolxx66 just enter the cow number in the management program. You can even get a bull through the robot….
