    Hi there,
I’m not sure they hybernate as such. They become very inactive and therefore require less food. But they still can be caught as we proved back in January, Feb time. The Carp fishing will slow up starting now really and will get progressively slower. The key is to reduce your free offerings – just a small pva bag on the hook will be enough. But they can be caught! Jay Back Of The Landing Net

    Nice. But you’re …
Nice. But you’re talking to poor student who cannot afford pva bags. And boilies. I use the siplest of rigs with sweet corn. I read somewere that they sleep when the watertemperatur goes below 6 or 8 degrees. I guess that’s how they do in Sweden. I think it’s colder around here, even though I live in the south.

    They don’t …
They don’t hibernate as such, they are cold blooded creatures and therefore their metabolism, activity, and general function slow down in cold temperatures- this can actually make simple digestion of food very hard, and sometimes impossible. But as Jay says they still can be caught, and using smaller ammounts of free offerings can improve your chances of catching a fish! Good luck in a swedish winter though!!
